First time for a joint Nordic market dialogue
Examples such as zero-emission construction sites and zero-emission speedboats show us that public procurement can be an effective tool to establish a larger market for newly developed green solutions. When several public cocntracting authoroties comunicate the same, the market sees the potential for serial production more clearly and a much-needed predictability is established. Cities and municipalities joining forces to challenge the market is an effective way to get innovative green solutions. Many joint innovative procurement processes have been done on a national level. For the first time, we are establishing a joint process on a Nordic level!
Kick off in Oslo
The new Nordic market dialogue will be focusing on «emission-free delivery of goods and services». A green transition within the transport sector will have positive impacts such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving local air quality. Furthermore, actions aimed at this sector may promote innovation and new business models required in a circular economy.
Eight cities and municipalities met in Oslo in October to discussion common needs and challenges. The Municipality of Oslo, Bergen, Kristiansand and Trondheim, City of Turku, Göteborg Stads Leasing, City of Kaarina, Municipality of Gladsaxe and the Municipality of Örebro contributed in workshops and breakout sessions.
Scope of the project
The Nordic market dialogue was initiated by Tine Sundtoft as one of her twelve recommendations for a green transition in the Nordics and is carried out by the Nordic Council of Ministers. The National Programme for Supplier Development (LUP) and Agency for Public Management and eGovernment (Difi) are conducting the process together with our project partners in the other Nordic countries: Motiva, Upphandlingsmyndigheten and Miljøstyrelsen.
Your municipality can take part of the action now
We are now in the process of identifying and agreeing on common needs and challenges for the market. The dialogue establishes the basis for joint and / or individual procurements that contribute to a green transition in the Nordic countries. If you are a municipality or city interested in the project, don’t hesitate to contact project manager idaskaaret.laustsen@nho.no or christine.kihl@difi.no.
The next step is a workshop December 3rd 2019 in Copenhagen to map the needs and challenges. The Nordic market dialogue will take place on March 26th (location: TBD).
